I was asked to make a tutorial re the above card and using wobbles. In this tutorial I will show you how to use the commercial wobbles and how to make your own.
First - how I made the card:
Supplies:
Stamp: Carousel Birthday
Inks: Black Memento, Watercolor pencils, Bermuda Bay, Timeless Texture
Papers:
- Bermuda Bay 4 1/4 by 8 1/2 (card base)
- Very Vanilla 4 by 5 1/4" (layer for card base)
- Whisper White 2" circle (for image)
- Very Vanilla1 by 3" for sentiment
- Scrap piece of Very Vanilla to stamp second image
- Bermuda Bay 2 1/2" circle
- Daffodil Delight 1 1/4 by 3 1/4" (mat for sentiment)
- Cups & Carousel DSP 3 3/4 by 5"
Accessories:
- Layering Circles Framelits
- Commercial wobble
The Carousel horse was stamped on Very Vanilla cardstock, die cut into a circle, and matted with a larger Bermuda Bay circle. A wobble was adhered to the underside of the art piece before attaching it to the mat. This was attached to the card front.
One of the patterns in the Cupcakes & Carousel paper pack looks like rays of sunshine coming from the upper left corner, which fits perfectly with the theme for this sketch. This was placed upon a Very Vanilla layer, and then onto a Bermuda Bay base.
The sentiment, stamped with Bermuda Bay ink, was matted with Daffodil Delight card stock and added to the lower right card below the art piece.
In making this card, I played around with a few techniques:
One, I stamped the image twice, and after fussy cutting it out I placed it on top of the original using dimensionals. This gives the horse a 3D effect.
Two, I added a wobble before adhering the art piece to it's mat. Now, when the horse is touched, it starts to wobble, almost spin, making the card interactive (see the picture below).

Action Wobbles:
Spring technology provides an exciting new way to add motion and dimension to any medium. Springs can be used for crafts, scrapbooking, art project, …
The wobble has a spring in the center of two ends The ends have an adhesive with a removable cover on it.
Remove the cover off one end, adhere to desired object; remove adhesive cover of remaining end and adhere your object to your project.
I used a commercial one, but you can make your own
Supplies Needed:
- Circle punch (I used 1")
- Scrap of white cardstock - enough to punch 2 circles
- Scotch tape
- jewellery wire
- something (pen) to wrap wire around.
Method:
Punch 2 circles
Wrap some wire around a (blender pen) about 2 1/2 times. Remove from pen and squeeze wire coils together.
Adhere one end of wire coil to one of the circles using a piece of scotch tape. Reshape the coils as needed.
Add scotch tape to the other end and adhere it to the second circle, lining it up with the other circle. Trim off excess tape.
Add to desired object with a glue dot or other adhesive.
You could use these wobbles on:
- your craft projects - cards/scrapbook pages
- invitations
- Dorm doors/school lockers
- computer monitors
- desks
- refrigerators
Here's another card I made using the action wobble.
