Emboss Resist Multicoloured Backbround

This is a background technique I learned at Cambridge.  I was just blown away!  I am showing you how to make it with the colours used in the card we were given to do as a make and take.  I won't show you how to make the entire card - just the background.
I just want to emphasize again that I am not the author of this technique!

Supplies:
  • Whisper White cardstock 3 by 4" (or whatever size you want)
  • Inks:  Cherry Cobbler, Cajun Craze, Hello Honey, Early Espresso, Versa Mark
  • Finger daubers for each of the above colours except the Versa Mark
  • Stamp: Sheltering Tree (the leaves only)
  • Embossing buddy
  • Clear embossing powder
  • Heat tool
Step 1:
Starting with the darkest colour (in this case Cherry Cobbler), ink up the dauber, and in circular motions apply Cherry Cobbler randomly over the surface of the Whisper White paper.

Apply the Cajun Craze next in the same manner.  It's okay to touch the Cherry Cobbler ink.

Fill in the empty spaces with Hello Honey

Step 2:
Apply embossing buddy to the entire surface of the stamped area.

Ink up the stamp with Versa Mark ink and stamp directly on the coloured background piece stamping at least 4 times to cover the entire area.

Add clear embossing powder.

Heat using a heat tool

Step 3:
Using a finger dauber and Early Espresso in cover the entire surface of the now embossed background.

Take a paper towel and wipe the surface to remove the Early Espresso ink from the embossed areas.

Here is what it looks like now.

Now experiment and try it with different colours.  The colours used above are autumn colours - maybe some Christmas, summer or spring colours.  Have fun.
